Today I am going to share with you another trifle recipe. A dreamy, creamy, chocolate trifle. It's decadent. It's rich. It's remarkably easy to make. But that can be our little secret.
Tall, Dark & Handsome Trifle
1 can (300ml) sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cup cold water
1 pkg vanilla pudding
2 cups whipping cream, whipped
2 pound cakes, sliced into 15 slices
300g bar of milk chocolate
1/3 cup butter
3 tbsp half & half cream
Combine water and condensed milk in large bowl. Add the pudding mix and beat well. Place in fridge until thickened, about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, whip the whipping cream. Once the pudding mixture has thickened, gently fold in the whipped cream. Set aside. Next, grate 2/3 of the bar of chocolate, reserving remainder for topping.
Next, place 5 of the cake slices into the bottom of trifle bowl or other large, clear bowl. Cover cake slices with half of the pudding mixture. Sprinkle with half of grated chocolate. Layer another 5 slices of pound cake, remainder of pudding mixture and grated chocolate, ending with layer of cake slices on top. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
Just before serving, melt remainder of chocolate bar (chopped into pieces) and butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. Stir in half and half cream until well combined. Pour warm chocolate glaze over top of cake slices and spread evenly. Serves 8 - 10
P.S. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of rum extract or orange extract to the pudding mixture for added decadence!
